The Steering Committee is hard at work preparing for the 30th Annual Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration to take place on Monday January 16th, 2012 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. They work from March until January making sure that all these things come together:

All Member Organizations are involved in some capacity choosing the theme for the Arts & Writing Contest and publicizing it to ensure participation from throughout the state.

Our website will be a valuable source of information about the Annual Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration, including the Martin Luther King Award, the Martin Luther King Arts & Writing Contest, the Lionel Washington Johnson Youth Awards, the Guest Speaker, and the historic roster of Previous Recipients of the Martin Luther King Award. We were phoned by interested visitors to the site from as far away as California & Hawaii!

Additionally, you will find the Website to be a year-round asset via the educational benefit of our Speakers Bureau, and the site's links to our Member Organizations as well as other Martin Luther King-related Websites.

As construction continues, you'll enjoy being able to find information about the Coalition's beginnings and what it has become today, guest speakers, & other notables who have been a part of the Community Celebration. You will also be able to find information about the local entertainment showcased at the celebration.

We hope you'll come back to visit often. The News Page will be updated to reflect current events of the Coalition's Member Organizations when their Reps provide the information, particularly those events related to the aims and ideals of Martin Luther King.
