The 2010 Lionel Washington Johnson Youth Awards Winners

  • In its efforts to educate youth about the life, work, & principles of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, the Martin Luther King Coalition offers an opportunity to students in Grades 6, 7, & 8 (including those home-schooled) throughout the state, to demonstrate an understanding of Dr. King's principles regarding a particular theme based on The Words of Martin Luther King chosen from one of his many moving speeches.
  • The theme of this year's Arts & Writing Contest: The Starless Midnight of Racism & War vs. The  Bright Daybreak of Peace  &  Brotherhood, is from these  words of the Reverend  Dr.  Martin Luther King: “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.
