"Call for Memories!"
The MLK Coalition is asking all members, friends, and fellow travelers along the path to social justice to share your memories with us.
This year is the 30th anniversary of our celebration. For the program book and at the event, we want to share stories, memories, and reports of being the civil rights movement, in New Hampshire and nationally. We want to hear about the struggle to make MLK Day a holiday in New Hampshire , how the Manchester NAACP chapter started, making diversity visible in NH through UJIMA, OBU, the African Caribbean Festival and more.
Tell us your memories, especially of those who have gone before . . . Lionel Washington Johnson and Vanessa Johnson-Bloeman . . .. . . our past MLK winners like Lydia Mann, Mel Bolden, Granny D . . . people who have been keepers of the flame . . . people and events that inspired . . . memories of Dr. King . . .
With your permission, we'll publish what we receive in the program book, post it on the website and use it in the program. Bring photographs with you and we will – carefully – exhibit them at the event.
Three decades of striving, organizing, and persevering must be acknowledged and celebrated.
